A New Article and the MFA Begins
This was a nice holiday gift for me. I submitted an article to Pottery Making Illustrated in September and recently heard that it would be included in the January/February issue. What I didn’t know until I received some copies of the magazine last week was that the pitcher that I demonstrate in the article is on the cover. Thanks to the editors at PMI and thanks to Charlie Cummings taking such a nice photo of the piece.
In other news, I just finished my first semester of graduate school at the University of Florida. It has been a luxury to have the freedom to research and experiment with new ways to strengthen my work. I found inspiration in the buildings of Frank Gehry and I’ve been looking at color interaction in relation to musical harmonies.
These teapots and mugs are the culmination of the fall semester. The photos are courtesy of Linda Arbuckle.

WOW
this work is so exciting. Congratulations

Congrats on the article Marty! Its exciting to have time and space to make new work. But I have to say that your work is strong already! Graduate school could produce some “super-hero” pottery which will most likely shake the earth!! I look forward to more of your explorations.
Happy holidays and continued recognition for the good work you do.
