Teapot - Marc Digeros

I found Marc Digeros’s work only a couple years ago and admire it greatly. He has a way of reinventing forms so they are completely innovative yet accessible. I am excited to be a part of this small group show and wish I could make the trip to KC to see it.

To quote the Red Star Studios Facebook event:

There is a lot of enthusiasm for low fire ceramics today. LA artist, Marc Digeros was the first when uncovering the men that have gotten in touch with earthenware. He attended the University of Minnesota, BFA, and the University of Washingtion, MFA. In 2000, Marc moved to Los Angeles where he still resides. He has worked for the architect Frank Gehry since 2001, as the model shop manager.

Please join us for the opening reception First Friday March 5th from 6 – 9pm. Red Star Studios is located on 821 W 17th St, Kansas City, MO 64108.

Images Included in a New Ceramics Book

Two images of my work have been included in the a new book by Emily Reason:

Ceramics for Beginners: Wheel Throwing, by Emily Reason.  Published by Lark Books.

I recently received a copy of this well organized and beautifully illustrated book. As the title states, it teaches you the basics of throwing on the wheel, but it also covers an assortment of topics such as decorating techniques, glaze mixing and application, tool making, and firing.
