3 Guys and Some Pottery

I’m looking forward to being back on Mockernut Road between Chapel Hill and Pittsboro, NC. I’ll be there for a long weekend, the first in August, to join my friends Doug Dotson and Ronan Peterson for this festive sale in Doug’s Studio.

I shared this studio with Doug in 2001 and 2002 and we took the first steps in figuring out how to fire his newly built soda kiln. It was a great place to work amidst the tall trees and boulders of granite.

Recent Shipment into the Ether

No, I don’t mean via the Space Shuttle. I have been stocking my etsy page with new work for holiday gifting. Take a look at some recent additions below and surf over to martyfielding.etsy.com for Cyber Monday shopping.

To point out a few new developments in past few months: take note of the blunt nose spout on the Pitcher, the hollow lids on the Oil Bottles, and the return of the Stoveside Coffee Pot – this time they’re square.

Philly Museum Craft Show

I’m in the midst of making work to take to the Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show. The show runs from November 10 – 13 in the Pennsylvania Convention Center.

I’m excited to go back with some recently evolved pieces. The photos shown here are a pitcher in progress. I’ve been having fun with this variation of the spout, wide and snub-nosed and spanning one side of the squared body of the pitcher. Other new forms in the works include the coffee pot promised in a previous post, and serving dishes built in slump molds made from foam insulation board.
